SharkWater

Its a good documentary. I suggest you watch it. It's all about shark fishing and how an estimated 90% of the original shark population is now gone.  Its a powerful message and the film is really well done.

More on the subject to come.

Child Soldiers

In approximately 17 countries around the world, approximately 250 000 children under the age of 18 are forced to be directly involved in the killing and injustice of war.  Some children "volunteer" to join an armed group for the protection of the group or for revenge against the killing of friends or relatives and some children are dragged from their homes and forced to join an armed group.  Children are made as human bomb detectors, walking over suspected territory before the rest of the soldiers to make sure there is no bomb underneath them.  They are also made to carry supplies and participate in suicide/murder missions.  As children appear harmless and lost in strange wilderness, they are often sent to spy on camps a few hours before it is to be attacked.  As children are often vulnerable and easily intimidated, they make obedient soldiers.  Most are abducted from their homes or taken by force to be recruited.  Children even as young as 6 years old have been recruited for war, being threatened by death to obey.  They are recruited by both the rebels and the government based army.  After the war, many children don't know how to get back on their feet, most don't know where their families are and don't know if they'll be welcomed back even if they do find them.  During war children have no access to schools, and after fighting in war for many years, they end up with little to no education for finding jobs in the future.  Most child soldiers end up living on the street.
